Mini excavator idler: wheel, yoke and replacement details
The excavator idler is the guide wheel at the opposite end of the track frame from the drive sprocket. A replacement request needs to identify both the wheel and what is supplied around it: the shaft, brackets or yoke may be part of the offered assembly. Excavator idlers with similar diameters can have different guide profiles and mounting parts.

Separate the idler from the tensioning unit
A mini excavator front idler guides the track; the tensioning arrangement positions it. The wheel and its support, the track tensioner assembly and their connecting parts should be identified separately on the quotation, even when offered together.
Photograph the installed arrangement from an accessible position so the supplier can see how the guide wheel connects to the frame and adjuster. A photograph of a wheel removed from its brackets can hide information needed to match a complete unit.
Specify the excavator idler assembly
| Question | Evidence to send or request |
|---|---|
| Which machine and version? | QS model, serial plate, track type and any previous lower-frame changes. |
| Which wheel profile? | Readable casting or part number; wheel diameter, rim width and guide profile against the offered drawing. |
| Which mounting? | Shaft ends, bracket or yoke arrangement and mounting dimensions taken under a suitable service arrangement. |
| What is included? | Wheel only or complete assembly; shafts, seals, brackets and connecting parts explicitly listed. |
| What needs assessment? | Wear or leakage photographs, track-running symptoms and the fitter’s findings. |
Keep measured dimensions and quoted drawing dimensions separate. The existing wheel may be worn, and a diameter taken across a damaged area does not necessarily represent its original size.
Record the wheel condition and the surrounding system
Look for evidence the fitter can evaluate: uneven running-surface wear, guide damage, leakage, side contact or a wheel that does not run correctly. Record which side is affected and when the problem occurs. Keep the observations with the undercarriage condition record.
A guide wheel can be affected by the track, adjuster or alignment around it. A new idler should not be treated as a cure for every de-tracking problem. Have the related components assessed before deciding whether the wheel, support or wider assembly is needed.
Removal can involve the stored energy in the tensioning system and the weight of the supported machine. Have a competent service person use the applicable procedure. This identification guide does not provide a pressure-release or spring-disassembly sequence.
Prepare an idler enquiry for your QS machine
Send the model and serial plate, the idler’s reference and photographs of the wheel with its mounting arrangement. Add the service finding and delivery country. Ask Qisheng to confirm the proposed assembly and included connecting parts before ordering; do not choose a replacement solely by the excavator’s nominal size class. Send the identification request
