Inch values are rounded conversions of the catalogue widths, using 25.4 mm per inch. They are not additional measurements or minimum gate-clearance recommendations.
The QS-18’s 230 mm track dimension describes one track, while its listed overall width is 1,160 mm. A quotation that says only “230 mm tracks” therefore leaves the access question unanswered.
Ask whether the blade, fitted attachments or other equipment protrude beyond the quoted width. Also distinguish the machine’s travel envelope from the space it needs to turn and excavate. Passing a straight opening does not establish that the excavator can work immediately beyond it.
Work Out the Clearance at the Tightest Point
Suppose the usable opening between a gate’s fixed obstructions is 1,200 mm. Subtracting the QS-18’s catalog width gives 1,200 − 1,160 = 40 mm total clearance, or only 20 mm per side if perfectly centred.
That arithmetic is not an access approval. Hinges, bolts, an uneven approach and the actual fitted equipment can reduce the remaining space. Measure the usable opening with the gate secured open, then inspect the approach and exit. No universal extra-clearance figure suits every route.
Measure bends and obstacles as well as straight widths. A machine may clear the gate but be unable to turn between the wall and the next fence. Photographs taken from the entrance and the far side, with measured dimensions, are more useful to the supplier than a single gate-width number.
Height deserves its own measurement. The QS-12 catalog’s overall height is 2,150 mm, while the QS-25 is 2,400 mm. An overhead beam can rule out a machine whose width appears suitable. Confirm the height with the ordered canopy or cab fitted; do not assume a protective structure can be removed or altered for access.
Retractable Tracks: Ask for Both Dimensions
The current Qisheng catalog shows retractable tracks as an optional configuration. It does not state the retracted and extended widths for those options. The listed overall width must not be treated as proof of either optional dimension.
Ask for the access width and the required working configuration in writing, including the blade arrangement. Also request the relevant operating instructions. A narrower travel setting does not establish the configuration permitted for digging or lifting.
If your route requires a 900 mm opening, none of the three listed standard overall widths proves a fit. A verified alternative configuration or a different machine would be needed; a sales description such as “compact access” is not a substitute for the measurement.
